Walmart is Changing Their Logo

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

So in breaking news this weekend, Walmart has officially begun the rebranding process in regards to their logo. Courtesy Brand New/Underconsideration via my favorite Coloradan (next to Reese Roper) Adam, I got the news. It’s a big deal when one of the biggest companies in the world rebrands. We, as designers, have a lot to learn as to why they changed, why this is better, what was wrong with the old one.

I do like the new logo better. I really do. But I don’t think it’s quite appropriate.

Maybe if it incorporated rich white people exploiting poor black folks or immigrants it would fit better. It would have to show their lack of health insurance as well. Might be tough to design it. Oh well. Guess the burst will fit for now.

The new logo looks more earth-friendly. I’m not sure why or how I got to that conclusion. It just looks… updated?

Eh. I’ve got more to learn than you.
