Discipleship is Only for New Christians
Friday, August 15th, 2008“Discipleship is Only for New Christians” is a myth I’ve been asked to speak on at Elevate, our young adult ministry at SSCC. I’m speaking in two Tuesdays (August 26th) and by God’s grace the group should be somewhat inspired to grow closer to their Teacher throughout their entire lives. So as I study up I wanted to ask for two things from you guys:
- Prayer. Seriously. God’s grace and anointing will be key to communicating His truth.
- Your input. Got any ideas? Questions? Any input would help me direct my talk towards what’s on your minds.
I appreciate any comments back no matter how little you think they are. Even a “neat” in the comments helps me know people are reading.
Thanks. God bless.

Really, though, I figured that this topic is right up your alley. You’ve obviously been making an effort to become more of a disciple of Christ, and not just because you are on staff at SSCC and have a mandatory quiet time. We all have plenty to learn and I’m hoping that your readers will join me in these comments. I’m excited about following along as your teaching comes together and takes flight in a couple of weeks.

An often over-looked topic. And seriously, often discipleship really is delegated to just new believers. And that ends up being one of the biggest reasons why Christians get burnt out with church and what-not, because it’s not meat. It’s not solid food, it’s still milk.
